Shukran! Obrigado

Um abraço

Dear Minister
I write to you to express my concern for Abdelrhman Zakaria Mohamed and Ahmed Abdullah Suleiman. They are two children condemned to death and detained in Shalla Prision, Al Fashir, waiting for their appeal to be heard in Nyala Criminal Court.
Abdelrhman Zakaria Mohamed and Ahmed Abdullah Suleiman are 16 years old. According to international law they are still children and they should only be held in juvenile offenders’ institutions and only tried in a juvenile court with full protection of their rights as children.
The use of death penalty against child offenders - people who were under 18 at the time of the crime - is prohibited under international law. The Geneva Conventions, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), all have provisions exempting this age group from execution.
Sudan ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child on 3 August 1990 and is party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Under the terms of these treaties, Sudan has undertaken not to execute anyone for an offence committed whilst under 18 years of age.
I am opposed to the death penalty which is a violation of the right to life and has been shown to have no deterrent effect.
Yours respectfully
